Joy in the Journey
Joy in the Journey is the theme for the upcoming Kansas District LWML
convention. Kim
Burdett, Gloria Peterson and
Marian Schulteis have
agreed to serve as Beautiful Saviors’ delegates at the
convention held in Topeka April 18th
– 20th. They
will cast votes to elect District officers and Pastoral
Counselors, approve bylaws changes, set a mission goal
for the next biennium and select recipients for the
2008-2010 mission projects and God’s Gracious Gift Fund.
The candidates for office (including Kim Burdett for
Financial Secretary) along with the proposals for mission
projects and GGGF are all listed in the January issue
of the Kansas LWML newsletter The
Kansas Sonshine (www.kansaslwml.homestead.com).
Eden Keefe & Tiffany Harkins are also attending.
Other
convention highlights include Bible study, communion
worship led by Rev. Rick Rostek at St. John’s Lutheran
Church, featured speakers, interest sessions, servant
events including a mission walk, a banquet & entertainment
celebrating LWML’s 65th
anniversary, lots of laughter, displays, shopping, fellowship
and a look at a bigger picture of LWML.
We will be receiving mites and offerings
on Sunday, April 6th to be taken for the
Convention Offering supporting the new mission projects!
Although the early registration
deadline has past, guests are welcome to attend the
Friday night worship service (free/open to public)
and can still register to attend portions or all of
the convention. The registration form is available
on the web site (above) and on-site at the Capitol
Plaza Hotel (1717 SW Topeka Blvd). Questions? Contact
Eden Keefe or Kim Burdett for more information.
