BIBLE IN A BOX
Nine Bible in a Box resources were provided for the Preschool again this school year.
Beginning in mid-September, a box will be sent home with one family from each class to be used over the weekend.
Each box contains a Bible story board book, 2 Christian paperback story books, a Veggie Tales® video, a game,
crayons and coloring pages. When the children return the box they are asked to provide a coloring page to be
displayed in the entry downstairs.
A MESSAGE FROM THE NATIONAL LWML PRESIDENT, LINDA
REISER
The LWML is up and running on GoodSearch!
This is a search engine (you might be familiar with
Google or others) you can use and thus generate some
money for the LWML. Just go to www.goodsearch.com
and on the home page it asked what organization you
want to sponsor, type in LWML and hit Verify. That's
all there is to it!
It is estimated that each se! arch generates approximately
$0.01 for the designated organization. Thus if 1,000
people would search twice a day the LWML could potentially
receive $7,300/year. Make it your regular search engine
and support the LWML! You will need to select the
organization you support the first time you use it.
According to the information we have, once you select
that organization, it will continue to appear in the
box so you do not need to select it every time. Just
type in LWML and click on verify! Happy
searching and remembereach of these pennies
has the potential to carry the message of Jesus Christ
to those who are lost and searching!
LWML CONVENTION NEWS
"God provides" was a reoccuring theme in
the mission presentation given by Connilee Myer's describing
her experience helping with Katrina Relief in Louisiana.
That's certainly true and much of the time He uses His
servants to bring that provision! Here at Beautiful
Savior we saw first-hand how perfectly God provides
for our LWML delegates through you...$370 was donated
for our convention delegate fund. Registration was $210
and hotel costs were $168.09 for a total of $378.09.
Thank you!
503 people attended the convention, 100 for the first
time - including Tiffany Harkins & Debbie Wallace.
Tiffany also participated in the Young Women
Rep. program. The YWRs had lunch with the national LWML
VP, Vivien Ernst, distributed LWML signs for
cars in the parking lot, met for after-hours fellowship
and presentations, brainstormed new marketing ideas,
were ushers during worship services and were easily
identified by sporting polka-dotted fabric as belts,
scarves, headbands, etc. They also gave out sticky-dots
to people who greeted them. Kim Burdett collected
at least 13!
In addition to inspiring (laughter-to-tissues kind
of inspiring) Bible studies by Pastor Tom Harmon,
Wichita, we celebrated in song and worship, were treated
to a number of personal mission stories by Kansas volunteers,
and presentations by Dr. Jotham Jhang, founder
of CAME Ministries (Center of Asian Missions and Evangelism),
and Jean Heise, president of the Haven Network
for Perinatal Death and Bereavement in Illinois.
The Convention Ingathering for OCCK Inc. and the Rebecca
Morrison House was overwhelming to the recipients. The
representative from the Rebecca Morrison House had to
recruit additional vehicles to transport their items
and kept exclaiming, Its like Christmas
on steroids! Its like Christmas on steroids!
In just over an hour on Saturday afternoon, the ingathering
items were sorted, counted and packed, 185 military
cards were written, 300 cards for nursing homes were
made, 6 quilts were tied, 150 pounds of rice went into
50 rice buddies and over 150 participated
in the Walk in the Park for Missions.
The first convention offering for mission projects
collected $3613.50 and the Mission Walk raised $3521.07
for the Louisiana/Mississippi District LWML.
Officers elected:
VP of Member Resources Tammy Songer, Lenexa
