STEPHEN MINISTRY "IT CAN'T BE THAT BAD" But it is.
And no one seems to understand what you're going through.
At times like this, you need a concerned Christian friend
who will listen while you work though your feelings. A Stephen
Minister can be that friend. Our Stephen Ministry offers the
opportunity of a very confidential relationship with someone
who will listen and provide care and encouragement. Contact
Gene Downard 913-897-7932 or Pastor Filipek 913-780-6023 for
additional information. "Carry each other's burdens,
and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

for a special offering in support of the Guinea Partnership.
COLLEGE OUTREACH There is a College Gift Fund box on the
table in the narthex lobby and we will be collecting monetary
donations through May 18th to offset the purchase of gift
cards sent to our college students. Thanks!

McHugh.
MUFFINS FOR MOMS Attention all kids, Mother's Day is May 11th!
To help celebrate at church, the Fellowship Board is providing

please contact a member of the Fellowship Board: Debbie Hodnik,
Debbie Wallace, Connie Teig, Renee Amos or Alison Balcom.

SIZZLING HOT SUMMER PROGRAM Our Summer Sunday school will
be a sports-themed adventure for those three years old to
high school. We will be having fun in the sun with activities
like kickball, ultimate Frisbee, and dodge ball plus a few
exciting crafts centered on Christ. Volunteers are needed.
If you enjoy sports with kids, we are calling for you to signup
as a coach or assistant coach. It's as simple as finding the
week and sport that you would like to coach and putting the
ink to paper. Don't worry if you can't be here all summer.
Simply sign up for the days you can and serve the Lord with
joy! If coaching children is not your gift we still have a
place for you. We will need help with setup, takedown, and
refreshments to keep the children cool. Signup and join the
team today! There is a sign-up on the easel in the narthex.

Only ONE WEEK LEFT to shop for the items needed for a Layette
Kit! (Check the list below for items needed.) Next Sunday
is Mother's Day...and we will be assembling the layette kits
to send to Lutheran World Relief. Please bring the items your
family or small group has gathered for a layette kit and join
us in the conference room right after the early service. Each
kit contains the following items: 2 shirts (or onesies); 2
gowns or sleepers; 2 receiving blankets; 4 cloth diapers (flat
fold preferred); 1 sweater or sweatshirt; 2 washcloths; 1
bath-size bar gentle soap (original wrapping); and 2 diaper
pins. Sizes up to 24 months may be used. You may vary the
sizes of clothing items so the layette will continue to be
useful as the baby grows. Gently used, clean items can be
substituted for new ones. Please do not donate items with
religious or patriotic symbols. More information is available
on the LWML mission bulletin boards. Contact Gina Raetzel,
Joyce Webber or Pat Vomhof with your questions.
SHARE THE BUBBLES!!! During May, we will be collecting wrapped

LUTHERANS FOR LIFE "You might recall that it is at
the Ascension that Jesus enters the Holy of Holies-heaven
itself and the presence of God-being taken up in the midst
of the clouds . . . there . . . your Great High Priest continually
makes intercession for you-a beloved child of the heavenly
Father."
